ABOUT US
In the late 1700s, Captain Abner Morse immigrated from Dedham, Massachusetts to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, as a United Empire Loyalist with the New England Planters. He and the other settlers cleared the land and built their homesteads.
The decendants of Captain Abner Morse now operate the mixed farming operation and family farm known as H.B. Morse & Sons.
The family consists of Harry and Madelyn Morse, sons Thomas and Andrew, daughters Janice and Nancy and their associated families. The major enterprise of our operation is the Strawberry Plant Nursery, which started up in 1989 and specializes in the production of southern variety plants for the Florida market.
We grow our plants on fumigated soil at sterilant rate under the rules and regulations of the Nova Scotia Strawberry Certification Program, developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture. Our plants are propagated from high quality certified elite and foundation stock obtained from California Nursery's.
Our plants are graded for maximum crown size to insure rapid growth and the earliest possible yields.
Regular field inspections are conducted by Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Agri Point International Inc. to guarantee you the best possible planting stock.
We continue to seek new innovative growing practices that will enhance plant quality and performance.
We take great pride in assuring our customers will receive the highest quality plant available.
Perhaps, when you visit our operation you might like to see our beautiful Annapolis Valley and World Famous Minas Basin from the air in the cockpit of a Stearman Biplane. If so, we would be happy to oblique.
